Blessed are the Merciful

As I was reading tonight, this came to me, I share with you:

“Be merciful and you shall obtain mercy” The word of the Lord unto His disciples in days of old (and I might add to us today).

The voice of universal charity, breathing forth the spirit of Christ upon a weak, sinful and a fallen world. None but the tempted know, what trials are; none but the fallen what the fallen suffer, or how they endured ere they fell. None but God can fully know the why and wherefore of their fall.” (Heber C. Kimball)

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”(Matthew 5:7 (Jesus Christ the Son of God)

Heber C Kimball continued:

“Why should we rail at the fallen? Why not rather weep, when a brother or sister sins? Why hate them for what is their misfortune? The heavens wept over fallen Lucifer. God weeps over the people of the earth”.

He was not the only one who shared this truth with us:

“And it came to pass that the God of heaven looked upon the residue of the people, and he wept; and Enoch bore record of it, saying: How is it that the heavens weep, and shed forth their tears as the rain upon the mountains?” (Moses 7:28)

He went on to share why God wept. We are His children. Have you who are parents or have loved ones not wept when you cannot help them, even though you tried?

“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
“How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
“These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
“And of some have compassion, making a difference: (Jude 1:17-22)

Wanting to make a difference in the world, Mother Teresa founded the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. The mission of her small organization was to help “the poorest of the poor” in the slums of Calcutta, India, by educating and meeting the needs of the destitute and starving. She wanted to bring comfort to the sick and dying who often felt unloved, uncared for, and unwanted.” (Edward Le Joly, Mother Teresa of Calcutta: A Biography (San Francisco: Harper and Row, 1983), 28–29.

Thousands were given comfort and love, shelter, food, and what they needed most was love and compassion. Today, the Sisters and many other Christians, Jewish and Muslim people are blessing the lives of those who are struggling. But, is it enough if all of us do not reach out in mercy?

Are we not chosen to make a difference? I beg of you all to get on your knees and ask God almighty, no matter what you call Him, to forgive you of your sins and bless those who must suffer unless they listen and turn from their sins. Then get up and show mercy to everyone and sin no more. God loves ALL His children, not just those who know Him. He sent Jesus Christ, His son who was perfect, to show us how to forgive. We can do this.

May we all endure well until He returns. God gave us the gift of our agency, whom do you follow?

You are welcome to comment or not. You all know where I stand. I’m on the Lord’s side, just as this Archbishop of the Catholic Church in San Francisco is.

I still say, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.”  When the Lord returns, will he recognize you?

And remember, you are not required to lower your standards in order to get a mate. Keep yourselves attractive, maintain high standards, maintain your self-respect. Do not engage in intimacies that bring heartache and sorrow. Place yourselves in a position to meet worthy men or woman and be engaged in constructive activities.

Never, ever, ever forget who you really are. A child of our Heavenly Father.

Restoration

One of my foster brothers was sent to prison for killing a police officer during the getaway from a robbery at a 7-11. While he was in prison, a former gang member killed him for something he had done before they went to prison. I’m sure when he first began using drugs, he had no clue where that would lead him. I’m sure when he first joined the “Chosen Few” motorcycle gang, he had no clue where that would lead him. I’m sure when he decided to rob that 7-11, he had no clue what he would end up doing. I’m sure when he saw his “buddy” from the old gang in prison, he had no clue he was going to die.

But then, he never knew God. When we were growing up, those who ran that foster home were not exactly the “God fearing” kind of people. While many of us grew up hard, not all of us chose to do what he and so many others did. Many of my foster brothers and sisters continued to do what they had been encouraged to do, harming or killing innocent children and other people. Not all of us chose to follow in that path. One of my foster sisters went all the way to Japan to get away from family. I kept running, until the Lord sent missionaries to teach me truth. And even then, I had to keep running, because no matter where I went, they always seemed to find me. But I was finally able to stop running.

“And it is requisite with the justice of God that men should be judged according to their works; and if their works were good in this life, and the desires of their hearts were good, that they should also, at the last day, be restored unto that which is good.

“And if their works are evil they shall be restored unto them for evil. Therefore, all things shall be restored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame—mortality raised to immortality, corruption to incorruption—raised to endless happiness to inherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other—

“The one raised to happiness according to his desires of happiness, or good according to his desires of good; and the other to evil according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do evil all the day long even so shall he have his reward of evil when the night cometh.

“And so it is on the other hand. If he hath repented of his sins, and desired righteousness until the end of his days, even so he shall be rewarded unto righteousness.

“These are they that are redeemed of the Lord; yea, these are they that are taken out, that are delivered from that endless night of darkness; and thus they stand or fall; for behold, they are their own judges, whether to do good or do evil.

“Now, the decrees of God are unalterable; therefore, the way is prepared that whosoever will may walk therein and be saved.”  Alma 41:3-8

Getting old is not for sissies, but as we get older, we gain certain types of knowledge. It is this knowledge I wish to share with you.

God, our Heavenly Father loves us. Jesus Christ, His son, loves us. The Earth is a place where all of God’s children came to get bodies, so we can be just like Them. Jesus Christ came to earth to gain his body, and also to show us how we can become like Him and be worthy to get back to our Heavenly Parents. He also paid a very high price so we do not have to be held accountable for all the mistakes we make while we are living our lives. That is called the Atonement.

Jesus not only suffered for our sins and mistakes, but He also suffered so He could understand our pains and suffering of all kinds; mental, physical and spiritual pains all included in that. He did that for each of us personally. Now that is true love. When we help others who can’t help themselves, we are showing that same type of love. Amazing, isn’t it?

God has sent prophets to the earth from time to time when humans begin to become corrupted. In the olden days the works of those prophets were recorded in the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon. For the past few hundred years, we have had living prophets upon the earth again. Today, we have prophets who also show us how to overcome evil and learn who we really are and teach us how much God really did and does love us. Isn’t that great!

Hugs to you, from an older, elder sister.

Meditation

http://www.mormontabernaclechoir.org/listen/live?lang=eng#d go to “If You Could Hie To Kolob”

When I need to be unpolluted, I used to go up to the mountains. High up, where humans do not go any longer. There used to be a spot high up in the Colorado rocky mountains, just above Rifle.  It was close to an old Ghost town. I went above that.

At night, I gazed up into the sky and saw Heaven. I know you may say that is not heaven, but have you ever really seen that type of view? I mean, really seen what is up there? It is only a small portion of God’s handiwork. a minute speck of His works. And yet, with all He has created, He knows our names. Each and every one of us.

After a week or so up there, I could come back down into the world below and dwell among humans without being grumpy or sad. Truth does set you free, and I want you know that since Joining the Church of the Son of God, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints, I have found truth for the first time, out side of the voice of the Holy Spirit of God that is.

Real love is not the way the world shows it. Real love is of God. It is clean and decent. It is soul lifting, not soul being shamed.

Here is what God shared with the world of humans: His rules of real love:

THE FAMILY
A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD
The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.

ALL HUMAN BEINGS—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.

IN THE PREMORTAL REALM, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

WE DECLARE the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.

HUSBAND AND WIFE have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.

THE FAMILY is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.

WE WARN that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.

WE CALL UPON responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.

This proclamation was read by President Gordon B. Hinckley as part of his message at the General Relief Society Meeting held September 23, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

America from my point of view

All my life I have heard people say, “America is the greatest country in the world.” There is a problem with that statement.

Don’t get me wrong, there are many things about America I love. When I was young, I traveled from one end of America to the other. From Canada to Mexico and every state other than Hawaii and Alaska. However, over the years, things have changed. I no longer see America as the “greatest” country in the world.

Around the globe there are wonderful people who have fought and died to bring freedom to their countries. I applaud them. For me, the globe is the World that God created for His sons and daughters. There is beauty in every culture, in every race, in the sky above and in the dept of the oceans. There are trees, streams, plants, animals, creatures, oceans, hills, mountains, deserts, and all in between in every country around the planet. There is food enough to feed all people. Not just those with money. There is no excuse for any of us who have food to allows others to starve.

I have seen the patchwork quilts of the land as I flew over them. I have seen the animals up close and personal. As I traveled by car or train or walked the back roads and climbed the mountains, I know that God has blessed us beyond measure.

But what are we doing? I’m afraid I was as guilty as the next. But once I saw what I was doing to destroy this wonderful globe I stopped. I repented, if you will. I began to strive to make a difference. Then, when I saw that I could not stop what was going on, I tuned out. I turned inward to block out what I knew was going to happen to this world if people would not stop and repent. The youth of today have no clue what it used to be like. That is not their fault.

Government control is not the answer. We, the people, need to work together, arm in arm to stop this nonsense. We the people need to bless the children by being good examples of what is right in this world. All of us need to stop and look up. We need to get on our knees and beg God to forgive us for messing up what He gave us. We need to shut down our phones, our electricity, our newspapers, our cell phones, our internet communications  and look up. Look around us. See all that God gave us individually. He wanted us to be happy and have joy. He wants us to know how much He really loves us. I know this with all my heart.

I also know if we don’t stop ourselves, then He will be forced to stop it for the sake of the children. God gave us prophets since the time of Adam and Eve. But do we listen to them? Do we hear what God is trying to tell us?

I pray we will all wake up and then stand up and be worthy to welcome the son of God, even Jesus Christ when He comes back.

In the Holy Scriptures for this generation it says, “Stand ye in holy places and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold it cometh quickly, saith the Lord.”  God’s time is different than our time. But our time is running out.

I am a child of God

Elder L. Whitney Clayton said, “We will not accidentally come to believe in the Savior.” during the 2015 April General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints.

I do love prophets, both the living and the dead. The first good I can remember is when my sister read to me from the Holy Bible which contains the stories of prophets and how people lived. Both the good and the bad. It is good to know that my mother believed in God. I remember a picture of an angel watching two little children cross an old rickety bridge over a raging water below hanging over the bed in our bedroom. Then, in 1949 when mother died, that picture was taken down and I never saw it again. The bible had been locked away by my father, in a box attached to the back of a trailer, along with an Autoharp and other precious treasures of mothers. I only saw my father a few times after that night. The bible wasn’t found until a year or so later. However, I talked to God each night, as I lay in the open yard looking up into the sky. I did not know if He heard me or not, but now, I know He must have.

In early years, people tended to laugh at me or after I learned how to talk, they thought I was a liar. Doctor’s tend to label children that are different. When I went to the hospital the first time, after the police rescued us, they called me the “animal child.” I was only a wee child back then, and since I’d never had a birthday I have no clue how old I was.

Jumping ahead to 1973: two young men came to my door while I was living in Yuma, Arizona. At that time I was babysitting several children, and had been finger painting with them in the dinning room. I grabbed a towel and went to the door. I asked if I could help them, and one asked, “Did you know you can do work for your worthy dead?” I must share with you, this is not the normal way for a missionary to introduce themselves. I know that the Holy Spirit told him exactly what to say to me. At that time, I believed my loved ones were all dead. I let them know I was busy just then, however, if they could come back later I would love to hear more. They agreed and did return later.

After telling me that I am a child of God and we are all brothers and sisters, they gave me a book. While they had only ask me to read one or two verses, I sat up and read all night long. Just before dawn I locked myself in the bathroom and got on my knees to ask God if this was really from Him. The air began to get very thick and I began to vomit blood, yet I kept praying. I really wanted to know if I was being tricked or if I had really felt that same spirit as from the Holy Bible. I know whenever the air gets thick something bad was about to happen, but I kept praying until I got my answer. I did not see a vision, nor did I hear a voice, but I felt such peace in my heart, I knew it was the same Spirit.

The Elders returned and asked me to do certain things; such as stop drinking coffee, tea, and alcohol. They asked if I would be willing to pay 10% of my income to God. They asked if I would be willing to go to Church with them on Sunday. I told them I’d need to pray about it, but I’d get back to them. After they left, I went from room to room, gathering everything I knew was displeasing to God, went into the kitchen, opened the back door and tossed them outside. You see, I had read the Old Testament so I knew what Moses had told the Israelite people and I knew that they were blessed many times because they did what God told Moses. So it was easy to give up my sins so I could become what God wanted me to be. For me, it was just that simple.

I had wanted to be a daughter of God since I was just a little girl. And here I was being told I am a daughter of God and beloved by His son, Jesus Christ. I wish I could say I remained faithful since that day, however, back then I did not understand that when you join the Church you don’t become perfect overnight. When women saw those missionaries at my home every night for dinner and staying until after dark, they began to gossip.  When I was told the missionaries had to be transferred because of me, I became very angry. I had never known what “the appearance of evil” was. I knew that God knew we had done nothing wrong. I had not had loving parents to teach them how to control myself.

I believe that God’s Church is where ever there are people who follow Him and are baptized by those who have the authority to do that, rather like John the Baptist. Not just anyone can do that. Only those who have been called of God to do this, as John was. I’m looking forward to shaking John’s hand sometime in the future. Anyway, it was many years later before Father sent more missionaries to find me. This time He sent young women, and the rest is history.
